How to Accept Your Offer of Admission

We've done our homework and are convinced that you would thrive here. You have until May 1 to decide, but if you already know you're Stanford-bound, take these steps:

Admission Response

To confirm your enrollment, follow the instructions below and accept your admission offer. Please respond on or before May 1.

  • Log in to your Application Status Page.
  • Click on the Stanford Admission Response form.
  • To accept your admission offer, select the appropriate option and submit the $200 non-refundable enrollment deposit.
  • Select Request Fee Waiver if paying the deposit is a financial hardship. We will not be able to consider
    a fee waiver request if you have not applied for need-based financial aid from Stanford.
  • If you wish to decline your admission offer, select the appropriate option and enter the requested information.

Deferring Your Enrollment

If you plan to attend Stanford but wish to request a deferral of your enrollment, use the Stanford Admission Response form and follow the instructions below.

  • Select the defer enrollment option.

  • Enter the requested reason for deferral.

  • Submit the required non-refundable deposit of $200 or request a fee waiver.

  • An admission officer will review your deferral request and provide further instructions.

If your request is approved:

  • You may not enroll in a degree program at another college or university during your deferment year.

  • You will be required to sign and abide by the terms of a deferment agreement.

Admission Conditions

We are confident you will complete your final year with the same level of excellence presented in your application. However, Stanford reserves the right to withdraw your offer of admission if:

  • you show a significant drop in academic performance or fail to graduate;

  • there has been a misrepresentation in the application process;

  • we learn that you have engaged in behavior prior to the first day of enrolled attendance that indicates

    a serious lack of judgment or integrity;

  • you alter your class/course schedule without prior approval from the Office of Undergraduate Admission; or

  • you are holding a place, past May 1, in the freshman class of a college other than Stanford.
