San Francisco International (SFO) is approximately 25 miles north and San Jose International (SJC) is approximately 20 miles south of Stanford. Both airports offer public transport, shuttle and hire car options that will get you here.
Oakland International (OAK) is also an option but is further from campus and can be more difficult to travel to/from using public transport and shuttles.
From San Francisco
By car, Stanford is approximately 1 hour from downtown San Francisco. You can take the 101 South (shorter but often busier) or the 280 South.
From San Jose
By car, Stanford is approximately 40 minutes from downtown San Jose. You can take the 101 North (shorter but often busier) or the 280 North.
The San Francisco Bay Area's Caltrain connects San Francisco and San Jose (including both airports) with a stop in Palo Alto. Attendees using Caltrain should get off at the Palo Alto station.
Stanford's free shuttle service, the Marguerite, meets most Caltrain services at the Palo Alto station and can take you to many popular destinations on campus—including the Alumni Center where Admit Weekend Check-In is located.
For the duration of Admit Weekend, parents are welcome to park free of charge in Galvez Lot, adjacent to the Arrillaga Alumni Center. All other campus parking restrictions will be enforced.
Although we cannot arrange lodging for parents, nearby Palo Alto and Menlo Park offer many places to stay—across a range of styles and prices.
